HRCPP performs first-time placement of Port-a-Catch, the fully implanted catheter

The Hospital Regional do Câncer de Presidente Prudente (HRCPP) held for the first time this week the placement of Port-a-Cath - the fully implanted catheter. The use of Port-a-Catch has revolutionized vascular oncology, as it has improved the life of the cancer patient by allowing greater comfort in drug administration, less need for manipulation and lower infection rate.

The procedure was performed by a team composed of nursing professionals, anesthetist, surgeon, instrument and radiology technique.

For catheter placement, the HRCPP surgical arch was first used. It is an x-ray machine that produces real-time images with up to thousands of shades of gray through digital imaging.
