Last Monday (31st), the World No Tobacco Day was celebrated.  To reinforce the importance of this date, the Internal Commission for Accident Prevention (CIPA) of Presidente Prudente Regional Cancer Hospital (HRCPP), together with the BestAr Physiotherapy and UNESP’s Anti-Tobacco Program, carried out an action aimed at making employees, patients and their families aware of the importance of quitting smoking, especially during oncologic treatment. Folders containing guidelines about the types of addiction and strategies that can be used by those who intend to quit smoking were distributed. Besides the orientations, those involved in the action articulated about the short, medium, and long term benefits that smoking cessation brings.  It is worth remembering that smoking is a disease that contributes to the development of several types of cancer, besides being associated with chronic diseases such as tuberculosis, respiratory infections, gastrointestinal ulcers, among others.
