Service provided by Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Presidente Prudente and by the RH institute was transferred to the hospital unit
The beginning of May marks a historic event for the Hospital Regional do Câncer de Presidente Prudente (HRCPP): the beginning of chemotherapy treatments in the hospital unit. Part of the service provided by Santa Casa de Misericórdia was migrated in August 2017, with the aim of offering greater comfort to cancer patients in the region, however, with the management of Santa Casa. Starting today (02/05), the services are now concentrated in the hospital that takes over management and increases the number of patients from 475 patients per month to 880.
According to the general manager of HRCPP, Josiane Aparecida Salisso, that number may increase. “Through the scaling we draw, we find that the hospital can handle 3,276 people per month,” she says.
Two other points are highlighted by the manager. The first one is the feasibility of treatment close to home and the second, the transfer of service from Santa Casa to HRCPP.
“This allows the population not to travel to other large-scale cancer centers in the region. The hospital can also test its expertise in the management of the cancer service and also initiates a plan to transfer the Santa Casa’s oncology services to the Presidente Prudente Cancer Hospital, ” she explains.
Regarding accreditation to the Unified Health System (SUS), Josiane explains that the agreement continues to be from the Santa Casa, which will transfer the SUS ceiling to the hospital.
“We draw the attention of the State Government and the Ministry of Health so that we can put all this structure in the service of the population,” she concludes.
The Chemotherapy Center of the Hospital Regional do Câncer de Presidente Prudente (HRCPP) consists of four rooms with a total of 39 armchairs, distributed as follows: 30 adult chemotherapy armchairs and nine infantile chemotherapy armchairs and Laminar Flow Hood for the preparation of chemotherapy and satellite pharmacy.
