HRCPP is placed to welcome patients with COVID-19

In view of the advancement of the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), contingency plans have been establishing parameters for the care of the population with suspicion and diagnosis of the disease.

COVID-19 is a pandemic in circulation since December 2019 and that reached Brazil in February 2020. To date, there are more than 500 confirmed cases in the country.

Even without confirmation of cases in the region, the breadth and severity of the situation requires necessary and urgent containment measures, in addition to the provision of beds for the reception of new cases.

For this reason, the Regional Health Directorate 11 (DRS 11) of Presidente Prudente visited the Regional Cancer Hospital of Presidente Prudente (HRCPP), last week, to see about the possibility of using HRCPP as a treatment center for COVID- 19 for patients in the region who need hospitalization, since the hospital unit has a ready structure and, so far, unusable due to lack of resources.

The HRCPP made itself available for the hospital’s structure to be used and requested that the resources for hiring professionals and supplies be paid for by the State.

A dimensioning on the cost to enable the hospital structure to function (80 hospital beds, 10 beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with mechanical ventilation and eight anesthesia devices - which can be used if necessary) was passed to the DRS, which awaits the return of the State.

The dimensioned cost was R $ 1,088,727.19 / month, contemplating the hiring of 290 employees who will be available to face the cases of the new coronavirus in the region.
